This Wednesday, August 17, the CEO of Finnova Foundation, Juan Manuel Revuelta, partner in LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0, took part in the conference “Saving the Puebla Vieja de Laredo”, a meeting focused on discussing proposals adressing urban regeneration and heritage rehabilitation in the historical center of town.

At the event, led by Pablo Zuloaga, vice-president of Cantabria, and Rosario Losa, mayor of Laredo, Revuelta presented our project, co-financed by the LIFE Programme, as a successful story and an inspiration for innovative and ecological initiatives supported by European funds to help recover the centrality of the historic center.

As Puebla Vieja de Laredo benefits from tourists visiting the region to a large extent, LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0 has been introduced as a waste management solution for the restaurant business and the wastewater treatment carried out in town, alternatives that can lead to generate on-demand biogas in a circular economy model.

In order to spread details of the available European funding opportunities for Laredo, Finnova’s CEO also introduced various programs, such as the NextGenerationEU Funds and the LIFE Programme, whose budget for the 2021-2027 period consists of 5.4 billion euros, allocated to environmental and energy transition projects.

At LIFE ECODIGESTION 2.0, we highlight the significance of inspiring different cities to integrate circular economy and energy efficiency principles. On this occasion, we bring our green and sustainable perspective for the recovery of Puebla Vieja de Laredo and contribute to creating interest in technology as a tool to facilitate energy transition.
