LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 Analyzes the Role of Biogas in Urban Sustainability
Brings Together Mayors and Entrepreneurs to Promote Sustainable Energy

The LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project will organize a session during the Greencities & S-Moving 2024 fair, taking place on September 24 and 25 in Málaga. This event, a leading platform in Spain for urban transformation and smart mobility, brings together key public and private sector players to explore innovative solutions focused on sustainability and urban well-being.
The policy session will feature prominent mayors, high-level officials, and entrepreneurs from Colombia and Spain, along with Juan Manuel Revuelta, CEO of the Finnova Foundation. The session, scheduled for Wednesday, September 25, will provide a space to discuss contributions to sustainable energy generation, with a particular focus on biogas as an efficient solution for energy production from waste treatment.
LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 will present its advancements in optimizing anaerobic digestion in wastewater treatment plants, showcasing how biogas generation can be an effective solution to reduce carbon footprints and promote more sustainable waste management practices. During the session, opportunities and challenges associated with biogas technology implementation will be analyzed, as well as its impact on urban sustainability.
Key points of the policy session include innovation in biogas generation, focusing on how anaerobic waste digestion can contribute to the production of clean and sustainable energy, highlighting the latest innovations in this technology. Colombia’s contribution will also be examined, discussing its experiences and policies related to waste management and biogas generation, and how these approaches can be replicated or adapted in other contexts. Additionally, international perspectives will be discussed on how local initiatives can be integrated into a global framework to promote sustainability and foster international collaboration in addressing common environmental challenges.
COLOMBIAN OFFICIALS DELEGATION, COP 16
During this event and the Green Cities fair, a delegation of Colombian mayors will attend, in the context of the 16th COP Biodiversity Summit of the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), which will take place in Cali, Colombia, from October 21 to November 1, 2024. This will also serve to highlight the global importance of biodiversity and sustainability.

Additionally, the Finnova Foundation will have a 36 m² stand (No. F14), which will be available to facilitate meetings and where the LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project will be explained to all interested visitors.
